Electronic Giants Showcase Their Gadgets at the CES

Every year in Las Vegas, electronic giants such as Samsung, LG, Acer, and Nokia, showcase their latest gadgets ready to be sold in the coming year at the International Consumer Electronics Show, otherwise known as the CES.

Although handheld devices are amongst the most popular gadgets being showcased at the show, the exhibits are not limited to just those categories. Categories range from handheld devices such as mobile phones and laptops, to gadgets much larger in size including home appliances and entertainment systems. With a total of 15 categories, and thousands of exhibitors, attendees are sure to be wowed by this electronics heaven.

Amongst all these amazing gadgets, a certain few were selected at the CES to be awarded the Best of CES 2012. According to CNet, the best of show award went to the LG 55EM9600 OLED TV, due to be released in October. The new LG TV is not only brighter in colour, displays better contrast, and is more energy efficient than any previous model, but it is also only a tiny 4mm thin. The model has also been designed specifically for wall mounting, at just a total of 7.5kg in weight. More of less, the new television definitely deserves its place.

The People’s Voice award this year went to the Razor Project Fiona, a whole new concept gaming tablet. The 10.1 inch tablet which uses Windows 8 and the all-new Intel Ivy Bridge chip, features a whole new way of tablet gaming with its two controllers on each side with buttons and joystick. At just an expected price of under $1,000, this is definitely a worthy competitor of the Apple Ipad.

Other honorary mentions of award winners include the Fujifilm X-Pro1, the QNX CAR 2 mobile apps platform, the Nokia Lumia 900, MakerBot Replicator, Simple.TV, the HP Envy 14 Spectre, BlueStacks for Windows 8, D-Link Amplifi HD Media Router 3000, and the ASUS Memo 370T.
